Approved Liquid Surge Restraint for Tankers
Rapid Spray is pleased to announce that their innovative liquid surge restraint system – the Rapid Ball Baffle System™ – has now been approved by Loadsafe Australia.
Extensive testing was carried out at the DECA facility in Shepparton, Victoria on the 19th March 2009. Mr Richard Larsen of Loadsafe Australia designed the test procedure and observed the dynamic testing conducted by Werner Ihle Consulting Engineers. The truck mounted with a single compartment liquid cartage tank was taken through braking and cornering scenarios with a range of different load levels, both with and without ball baffles installed in the tank. Test results clearly show a spectacular improvement in the handling of the truck and tank fitted with the Rapid Ball Baffle System™.
Mr Larsen states in his test report, “The tests showed that the ball baffle system was very effective in minimising liquid surge and sloshing in the partially filled tank during braking and cornering and thereby ensuring that the vehicle’s stability was not adversely affected.”
Mr Larsen’s concluding paragraph is unequivocal. “The Rapid Spray Ball Baffle System™ thereby demonstrated compliance with the Load Restraint Guide Performance Standards for Bulk Liquids...”
